Can foreigners buy a pool villa in Thailand?
Foreigners can own the house but cannot own land in their own name. Most foreign buyers register a long lease of the land (up to 30 years) together with ownership of the building, which gives clear rights at the Land Office. Always use an independent lawyer to check the title deed (ideally a Chanote), building permits and the lease terms. Read our guide to buying property in Thailand as a foreigner for more detail.
